The Canadian cardiovascular health guidelines (C-CHANGE) are designed for health services to incorporate the latest research into their practice, from general practitioners to cardio-thoracic surgeons. These guidelines are regularly updated to reflect the latest findings in clinical prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. However, the guidelines and associated updates are often difficult to translate to health prescriptions and the rising cases of metabolic disorders suggest ineffective translation of the guidelines to public health.
The Circulate Health platform was designed as an open-access repository for the design projects emerging from the Design for Health Masters course at OCAD University, Toronto. Studio projects in collaboration with the Sunnybrook Research Institute focused on translation of the C-CHANGE guidelines to design interventions which may promote the incorporation of the latest cardiovascular research at various levels of care, including communication design of the guidelines for general practitioners, public health pmaphlets and brochures for community health centers and product innovations for the general public to manage heart health.
In collaboration with the studio lead, Professor Peter Jones, my role in this project was the initial conceptualisation of the website and its content to allow students to propagate their studio projects and invite stakeholders to participate, collaborate and develop the interventions further.
